Why not a consumer messenger at work
WhatsApp and Viber are for private life — at work you mix personal and official messages; data goes to foreign companies.
Slack and Teams are better, but the cloud often ends up in the US and cost grows with headcount. Rocket.Chat gives a similar experience — with data in the EU.
Phone number per person, weak admin on groups. Export for an office is painful — Meta processes content, not your policy.
Viber
Consumer channel without AD or team channels. When someone leaves, work chat stays on their phone.

“Self-hosted” does not mean you run it yourself. We handle the server, updates, backups, and monitoring. You handle people and usage rules.
Data control
Chat content does not belong to Meta or Slack. You know where it runs, who has access, and what is backed up — important for GDPR and official communication.
Work vs private
Employees do not take institutional knowledge away in a private group chat. Company accounts and channels stay with the organization.
